  • Two terminal markets have been proposed to set up. One at Sambalpur and another at Bhubaneswar for which there shall be a financial implication of about Rs.1.00 Crore.
  • There is a proposal to establish Mini Cold Storages at RMC level in the 10th Five Year Plan Period.
  • Out of 1250 Primary Rural Markets, 377 Markets have been transferred to the control of RMCs for development at a cost of Rs.1231.00 lakhs. There is a proposal to develop the remaining markets numbering 873 for which the requirement of funds shall be about Rs.4365.00 lakhs at the rate of Rs.5.00 lakhs each as per State Master Plan.
  • There is a proposal to set up four more Regional Grading Laboratories at Balasore, Sambalpur, Koraput and Cuttack to cater the needs of different Agmark packing companies of the State.
  • Under the 12-point initiative of Honorable Chief Minister, Krushak Bazaars are being established in different markets of the State, which aim at eliminating the middlemen and to provide better price to the producers. So far 36 Krushak Bazaars have been established and the government has planned, in the 10th five year plan, to set up 200 Krushak Bazaars during a period of Five Year @ 40 numbers per year in a phased manner.
  • With the formation of Cotton Technology Mission of India for setting up new Cotton Market Yards, the T.M.C provided 60% assistance and the balance 40% is met by R.M.C out of their own funds. With the financial assistance, 3 Cotton Market Yards are taken up viz Gunupur (Rayagada district), Kesinga and Karlapada (Kalahandi District).
