3.Conference on biotechnology begins on 2nd May

A three-day international conference on emerging trends in biotechnology would deliberate on ‘Stem Cells - technology, potential and trends’ in Hyderabad from May 2. Martin J. Evans, Director, Cardiff School of Biosciences, UK, who discovered the embryonic stem cells and was honoured with the prestigious Lasker Award, would deliver the keynote address.

4.Training for farmers in medicinal plant cultivation

The Swami Ramananda Tirtha Institute of socia-economic Research and National Integration has taken up training of farmers in cultivating medicinal and aromatic plants, processing and marketing areas on a large scale. The institute will initially train the trainers who, in turn, will train their peers. The intensive training for trainers in Ranga Reddy, Mahbubnagar, Medak and Nalgonda district will be organised for six days from May 5. In all 205 farmers, one from each mandal will participate.


5. Agricultural fair

The Acharya N G Ranga Agricultural University is organising a State level 'Andhra Pradesh Agricultural Fair' between April 5 and 7 at the University campus at Rajendranagar. The theme of the Fair is Agriculture in WTO Regime' to educate the farmers on how globalisation can work for the betterment of small farmers of the country. Farmer-scientist interaction meetings will be organised on all three days in the afternoons with different themes to educate the farmers for the adoption of technologies in WTO regime.

6.Agricultural fair from March 18

An Andhra Pradesh Agricultural Fair is being organized from March 18 to 20 at Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University Sports Complex on the theme “Agriculture in WTO regime.” The exhibition will display the latest agricultural technologies. Interaction between scientists and farmers will take place in the afternoon sessions.
